Our St Louis Vacation, part 2

Okay, so I'm rehashing the St Louis trip cause http://www.wearethatfamily.com/
is having a Sizzling Summer Celebration Giveaway.

If you ever get a chance to go to St Louis, go to the Magic House, Children's Museum. My kids (and the adults) had a great time exploring and playing with all of the interactive activities. I had always wanted to do the "static hair experiment ball thingy" - and here is a picture for your enjoyment. I was laughing hysterically the entire time - I could see myself in a mirror. Note: no moms were injured for this picture and if you try this yourself, it won't work with wet hair, right Paige?

We also went to the St Louis zoo during our visit. It is a clean, free zoo with lots of different animals. My husband especially liked the reptile house and all the creepy snakes. If you are there in October, they have a fabulous Boo at the Zoo with trick or treating, crafts, and characters to meet.

So, we didn't get to go on an extended 14 day vacation to a tropical location (or hunting location, if Jeff chooses), but we did have a wonderful weekend visiting my sister and brother-in-law in the city they call "The Gateway to the West".

Happy 7th, A-Belle!

The kids helped a dear friend, Abigail, celebrate her 7th Birthday this past Sunday. We played outside, ate cake and ice cream, helped open gifts and helped play with the gifts!
Here the girls all "help" Abigail wih her new stamp set. Olivia came home and played with notecards the rest of the day.

Old Favorite for the Kids

Friday night the kids got to have a new experience - a drive-in movie! We saw "Space Chimps" in C. City with Aunt Vanessa, Heather and Cousins Alex, Jacob and Devon. The kids liked watching the movie outside and eating all the snacks we brought. I imagine we'll do this again!

Olivia's Big Day!

Well, the day I have dreaded finally arrived - the first day of Kindergarten! I never knew how fast the first 5 years could go by. Pepaw, remember that day when Olivia was 6 months old and I was buying outfits for her? You asked if I had bought her first day of school outfit! We didn't know how fast our little girl would grow up!

She loved her first day - says she wants to go back! Which I figure is a good thing - smiles. She says today was just learning the rules - tomorrow they will really do things. Hold on, she's gonna grow up fast now!

Busy Saturday!

Our last Saturday before school starts kept us very busy. First, a wedding shower for Amy & Steven (Blessings to them in their upcoming wedding!) After cleaning up the goodies we came home for a little rest. Then it was off to a combo Jungle Birthday Party for Will (3) and Myles (1). The kids had fun playing on the water slide, swimming, playing with toys and just being with friends. Happy Birthday to you both - got a great picture of the cake but how did I not get a picture of the birthday boys? I did however, get a picture of Sonya (with baby Drew) and her new "do" - it took her forever to cut it and it looks fabulous!

Home Decorating Help!

I've got 2 things to share... first one of my talented students, Teris, painted these neat ball pictures for Daniel's room make-over. We hope to hang them soon, when we get the walls painted blue.

Next, our kitchen counters are this strange bluish green color. We're wanting to brighten it up again and are having a hard time matching. I learned a great trick from my friend, Tammy, yesterday. You can get the cutest little cans of sample paints at Lowe's for $4! I got 3 last night and tried it in the kitchen. I started thinking, if you wanted to do some decorative painting - this would be the way to go! No need to buy the huge paint can, when you can get these cute ones! Do you think this color matches?

Watch out, Tiger!

Ever since Jeff brought home the little golf set for Daniel and Olivia, Daniel started loving golf. He wants to put a golf ball on the "teeth". He hits it pretty hard in the backyard and talks about hitting it in the hole. Jeff let the kids play on the practice putting area at the country club the other day. I think you can see the determination on Daniel's face! Watch out, Tiger!

Fun with Aunt Paige

A couple of weeks ago Aunt Paige and Uncle Ben accompanied us to the local water park. The kids had such a good time at one point with Aunt Paige I had to take pictures. I think they were playing Pirate and Daniel was the Pirate trying to take over their ship! Sorry for the picture, Paige!
